Throughout my college degree, I have gained extensive experience supporting children with a wide range of additional needs. I have cared for children with Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, and mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression. In addition to my college placements, I have spent many years babysitting for families with children on the autism spectrum, ranging from mild to more complex needs. This has helped me develop a patient, understanding, and adaptable approach to caring for every child as an individual. Most recently, I spent the past two months assisting in my local Montessori, where I supported children with severe autism, including children who were non-verbal and communicated using alternative methods. This experience strengthened my ability to understand children's individual communication styles, remain calm in challenging situations, and provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where every child feels valued and understood.
I have extensive experience caring for children of all ages, from as young as 2–3 months old through to teenagers. I have been babysitting since I was 14 years old and have cared for children in a variety of settings, including regular babysitting, overnight stays, school collections and drop-offs, and caring for children while parents were away for weddings or holidays. During the summer of 2024, I worked as an Au Pair for a family in Cork, where I cared for 6-month-old twins and their 3-year-old sibling. I have also cared for several sets of twins from a very young age, including overnight care, which has given me plenty of hands-on experience with feeding routines, nappy changes, bedtime routines, and providing attentive, nurturing care. I also work for Nannies for Weddings, where I have the responsibility of caring for children who are part of the bridal party or guests on a couple's special day. This role involves keeping children happy, entertained, relaxed, and well cared for throughout the day, allowing the bride, groom, and their families to fully enjoy the celebrations, knowing the children are in safe and capable hands. It has strengthened my ability to care for multiple children at once, adapt to busy environments, and remain calm and organised under pressure. Alongside this, I spent many years as a Cúl Camp coach (ages 13–22), coaching children aged 4–13 in camogie, hurling, and Gaelic football during the summer months. More recently, I assisted in my local Montessori, caring for children aged 3–6, including those with a range of additional needs. I genuinely love working with children and creating a fun, safe, and caring environment where they feel happy, secure, and valued. I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing games, reading stories, doing arts and crafts, completing jigsaws, and baking or cooking with children. My priority is always to ensure every child in my care feels safe, supported, and has fun, while giving parents complete peace of mind that their children are receiving the very best care.
