Yes, I did a brief Children's First Aid course a few months ago
I have gained valuable experience working with young children through my placement in a preschool with two-year-olds and my job in a creche in the one-year-old room. In the preschool placement, I supported two-year-olds in their learning and development by engaging them in age-appropriate activities and helping them build social and communication skills. I learned how to adapt my approach to meet the individual needs of each child, fostering their independence while providing a safe and nurturing environment. At my job in the creche one-year-old room, I cared for infants by supporting their daily routines such as feeding, nap times, and play. I focused on creating strong, secure attachments by responding sensitively to each child’s signals and needs. Both roles have helped me develop practical skills in managing young children’s emotional and developmental needs, working collaboratively with colleagues, and ensuring a warm and supportive atmosphere for the children to thrive. In addition, I have babysat my baby cousins, which has given me hands-on experience in a family setting. This personal experience has helped me become even more sensitive to the unique needs of babies, understanding the importance of patience, consistency, and being emotionally present. Caring for my cousins allowed me to practice responding to their cues, managing their routines, and fostering a calm, comforting atmosphere that promotes their well-being and development. Together, both these experiences have strengthened my ability to support babies’ growth in a warm and practical way.
