I have always had a love for children as I grew up in a family with 3 younger siblings and 8 younger cousins. My brother was born when I was 13, that was when my interest in working with children started as I helped a lot when he was born. Shortly after that I began babysitting around my area, I would help them with their homework if they had any, make them food, play a few games, go for walks and just make sure that they were having fun. I love working with kids as no 2 days are ever the same. Their imaginations are wild and I love that most about them. I completed a QQI level 5 in Pre-Nursing last year and I am currently nearly finished my QQI level 6 in Social Care. I am hoping that this coming September I will go further and complete a level 7 or 8 in Community and Youth work. I have 2 years experience working in the care industry, between nursing homes and home care. I completed a work placement in a ward for individuals with neurological conditions and I have just finished my second placement in a afterschool programme for children who are in need for extra support. Currently I am waiting to begin my new job in a respite service for children and young people who have autism and/or an intellectual disability.
