About Me

My name is Faith. I hold a degree in Medical Science and a Master’s in Biomedical Science, and I’ve worked as a Medical Scientist in the Cervical Screening Laboratory at the Coombe Hospital. I also completed my FETAC Level 6 in Social and Vocational Integration in 2020. Although my background is in science, I’ve always loved working with children. I gained valuable experience during my placements and through teaching kids back home, which helped me discover how much joy and fulfilment I get from caring for and supporting young children. I’m currently taking a career break from the lab and would love to spend this time doing something I truly enjoy caring for children and creating a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for them. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

My Experience

First Aid Experience

Yes, I have First Aid experience. As part of my FETAC Level 6 course, I received First Aid training, which covered basic life support, dealing with minor injuries, and responding to emergency situations safely. In my work as a Medical Scientist, I also gained strong awareness of health, safety, and infection control practices. I’m confident in staying calm and taking the right steps if a child needs First Aid or medical attention.

Special Needs Experience

Yes, I have experience working with children with special needs. In 2021, I worked in respite services with the Daughters of Charity, where I supported children with various additional needs. This experience helped me develop patience, empathy, and effective communication skills. I assisted with daily routines, play activities, and personal care, always focusing on creating a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with children with special needs in other settings, which strengthened my understanding of how to adapt to each child’s individual abilities and needs.

Experience with Children Under 2 Years

Yes, I do have experience with babies (up to 2 years). During my course placements and previous childcare experience, I had the opportunity to care for babies and toddlers, supporting their daily routines such as feeding, changing, nap times, and play activities. I enjoy spending time with little ones and understand the importance of patience, safety, and gentle care at that stage of development. Back home, I also helped look after younger children within my extended family, which helped me become comfortable with the needs of babies and how to keep them happy and settled. I find it very rewarding to watch them grow and reach their little milestones.
