First aid complete October 2019
I have a younger sister who is now 23 who has mild quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy. From a young age I have helped her with various therapies, independant living skills and other things such as finding shoes that will aaccomadate the medical insoles to correct her gait/walking. I have been minding a 6 year old boy with Down Syndrome since he was 8 months old. I have done physio therapy, occupational therapy and play therapy under the guidance of his multidisciplinary team. I have also worked in a nursery with a child who has Down Syndrome and another child who is on the autism spectrum. Between these jobs I have used Lámh sign language and the PECS communication system.
I have a four year old nephew who lives with me and I have helped care for him since he was two days old. I have worked minding children from 6 months old in a creche setting.
