About Me
My name is Angela and I am in my third year of college studying Social Care Work in TUDublin.
I have always loved working with children which was one of the deciding factors in choosing my career path to date. It also prompted me to work at an overnight summer camp the past two summers in america where I worked as an inclusion counsellor. This entailed providing that little extra support to children with any extra needs or just those who just need some more encouragement to participate. I found this work extremely fulfilling and a role I would love to fill again. I am also planning to do my college placement this year in a residential home for children in state care.
My Experience
Special Needs Experience
While working in America as an Inclusion counsellor I worked with children with a wide variety of needs. Each week 350 children would be enrolled at camp and approximately 25 of those children would be enrolled in our inclusion program where I would work one on one with them to ensure all their needs were met and they could meet their full potential while away from home. I have worked with children with down syndrome, sensory processing disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and eating disorders.
Experience with Children Under 2 Years
Before I moved to Dublin I worked with a family whose child who was just turning one and I worked with them until the child was three and I was moving away for college.
