Child Minding Qualifications
I have a wide range of hands-on experience caring for children in both home and professional settings. Growing up with two younger siblings, I have always taken an active role in helping to care for them, from supervising daily routines and homework to organising activities and ensuring their safety and wellbeing. In addition, I have worked in several babysitting roles, where I have been responsible for preparing meals, maintaining bedtime routines, and creating fun, age-appropriate activities while building trusting relationships with families. Through my college placements as part of my Early Childhood Studies degree, I have also gained valuable professional experience working with children in structured settings, supporting their learning, development, and individual needs. These combined experiences have strengthened my confidence, patience, responsibility, and ability to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children of different ages.
First Aid Experience
Yes, I am fully trained in First Aid, having completed my certification as part of my studies in Early Childhood Studies in college. This training has equipped me with the knowledge and practical skills to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations, including administering basic first aid, managing minor injuries, and understanding appropriate safety procedures. I understand the importance of acting quickly and responsibly when caring for children, and my First Aid training gives me the confidence to ensure their wellbeing at all times.
Special Needs Experience
Yes, I have experience working with children with special educational needs. As part of my college placement, I worked in an ASD unit supporting children with autism. In this role, I assisted with structured learning activities, supported communication and social development, and helped implement individualized strategies tailored to each child’s needs. This experience strengthened my understanding of inclusive practice, patience, and the importance of consistency and clear communication. It also enhanced my ability to provide calm, supportive, and attentive care while respecting each child’s unique strengths and challenges.
Experience with Children Under 2 Years
Yes, I have experience caring for babies. During my college placement in a crèche, I worked in the baby room where I supported daily routines such as feeding, nappy changing, settling for naps, and engaging in age-appropriate sensory and developmental activities. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and developed a strong understanding of the importance of responsive, gentle, and attentive care during the early stages of development. In addition, I have hands-on experience caring for younger siblings and baby cousins, where I have assisted with feeding, soothing, and supervising in a home environment. These experiences have strengthened my confidence, patience, and ability to provide safe, nurturing, and attentive care for infants.
