Hello! My name is Thelma and I’m a warm, energetic, and experienced childcare professional with over 17 years of hands-on nannying, teaching, and caregiving experience across Ireland, London, and New York. I began my childcare journey as a teenager, providing trusted local babysitting support in my hometown of Donegal. This quickly developed into a formal role when I was hired by the prestigious five-star Lough Eske Castle Hotel to care for visiting guests’ children—an opportunity that sparked my passion for working with families from all walks of life. Since then, I’ve worked internationally as a nanny, governess, and homeschooling support in London and as an au pair in New York. My roles have ranged from school runs and structured after-school routines to full-time homeschooling, creative learning, and developmental support. I pride myself on being adaptable, organised, and emotionally attuned to the needs of each child I care for. I currently run my own flexible childcare business in Donegal, supporting a wide variety of families—including locals and holidaymakers. I’m also proudly involved with Liquid Therapy, a therapeutic ocean-based programme supporting children with autism, Down syndrome, neurodivergencies, and mental health challenges. This work has deepened my understanding of inclusive and compassionate care. I hold a current DBS check (valid until end of 2025), Irish Garda Vetting, Paediatric First Aid certification, safeguarding training, and a food hygiene certificate. I’m also currently enrolled in a child protection course to further expand my knowledge and practice. Today, I continue to work independently while also being regularly called back to Lough Eske Castle for family bookings. I bring creativity, structure, warmth, and professionalism to every role, and I’m passionate about creating safe, nurturing environments where children can truly thrive.
