About Me

Hi there! My name is Romy and I'm a 21-year-old French girl. I've just finished my 3-year double degree in Political science and English in France. I'm now in Ireland for a gap year and I'm working as a French assistant at Marino College for a few hours a week (Monday to Thursday, only 2 hours a day). I've been in Ireland since October and I'd like to find a place to live where I can be an au pair at the same time. I love looking after children, I've been used to doing it for a very long time as I'm a big sister and I was used to looking after children (friends, family, ...) very early in my teenage years. Therefore, I would like to be an au-pair from January to the end of the school year (May or June) in full time (except from the hours where I'll be working at the school). By the way, I already have my Garda Vetting because I had to apply for it for the school. Furthermore, I already have experience with children as I have been babysitting for a long time as I said, and I am also used to living in a house with babies, children or teenagers as I did an experience as an au-pair for 2 months in Newcastle, England, in a family where I looked after the children and spoke French to them (to help them in their language course). I have a very good rapport with children in general and often manage to put them at ease as I'm a good-natured, sociable and trustworthy person. I'm also a big sister of 2 little sisters, which is why I'm so responsible and careful with children. Therefore it would be a pleasure to be part of a family for a few months, to look after the children and even help with household chores!

My Experience

Child Minding Qualifications

I have experience in child minding: I've already spent 2 months in England with a family where I looked after the children during the day (making them do activities, helping them with their homework and speaking French to them to improve their level) and helped the mother with household chores. During my teenage years, I also did a lot of babysitting (evenings, days, etc.). I'm also used to dealing with children of all ages, as I'm currently working in a school and have already done it before when I was looking after some classes at my old school in France (during lesson, school duties or even accompanying them on school outings).

First Aid Experience

I have First Aid experience because I have the PSC1 diploma, which corresponds to the French state diploma in First Aid. It's a diploma awarded after you've taken a course to learn first aid for any situation.

Experience with Children Under 2 Years

I have experience with babies thanks to the many times I was able to baby-sit. The youngest age I looked after was 3-4 months (changing diapers, feeding them, putting them to bed, keeping them occupied, ...).
