About Me

I live in the suburbs outside of the urban city of Richmond Virginia. I still live with my mother (who was a NICU nurse) and father (who was in law enforcement). I just have one sister, who is now a nurse in the emergency room. I value what I have learned from growing up with my parents in my profession. It has led to my hyper vigilance in safety. Caring for others is one of the things I love to do. I am very passionate about the children and families who are in my past, present, and future. I have always prided myself on being dependable. Not only at my job but with my home life as well. I’m easy-going and flexible (not physically). I value kindness, and I like to think of myself as someone who is fun to be around. Growing up my mother homeschooled me and my sister. I graduated in 2019 and started at my local community college that fall. I was liked by all my teachers because I would raise my hand to answer questions and would have read the chapter they were about to lecture on. I made the dean’s list and graduated with an advanced careers studies certificate in early childhood development. In 2022 I was part of an educating cohort that studied the work of Fred Rogers. My free time now is spent as an apprentice in a local Irish dance performance group. I spend time with my family and pets, every evening after work. I love being creative, whether it’s sewing, DIY-ing, or making stained glass windows. I would like to explore what its like to live in Ireland and the beautiful country itself. I would also like to journal and send postcards to my friends and family. I expect to help care for the children in the household. While living with them and having my own room. I would like to help the parents mostly with things surrounding the children. I hope to make new friends during my stay and take day trips to visit other parts of the country. I am a survivor of childhood cancer. I was diagnosed at age 10. I still have yearly scans, I’m apart of a study to help research. I will need to travel home for a short time, around November/December yearly to participate. Scheduling starts in August/September so I can work with your family’s schedule. I do take routine medications that I will need to secure away from the children.

My Experience

Child Minding Qualifications

At the age of 15. I started to seriously get involved with babysitting the children in my neighborhood. I had also started to volunteer with my local childhood cancer nonprofit, at their summer camp and after school program. That then led to me helping with their fundraisers too. As the kids I still babysit for grew older, we would just spend time playing outside in the evenings after school. I then got a job working at the children’s hospital in a playroom where I watched siblings of kids who had an appointment. It was a free service to families and was partnered with the local Ronald McDonald house in Richmond. The age range I watched was 3/16 years old. The goal was not only to watch the children for the parents but to give these children attention, while their parent cares for the child with an appointment or that is in the hospital. After working there part-time for 1

First Aid Experience

I have taken a cpr class. I have two family member who are nurses and have taught me what to do.

Special Needs Experience

In 2020 it was supposed to be my first year volunteering to be a counselor for a week long overnight camp for children with cancer, but we adjusted to virtual. It stayed virtual until the summer of 2023 where I got to be a in person counselor for the first time.
