My younger brother has an intellectual disability. Seeing that I grew up in a single parent household a lot of the duties would have been put in the older kids. I have learned to understand his needs non verbally, I respect that he has a routine that he needs to stick by or else he will become aggravated, my brother processes things slower than usual so I love that he feels comfortable enough to accomplish his goals at his own pace
Worked in my church department as the childrens teacher. In this classroom I learned to help certain children break out of their shell of shyness. I allowed them to express themselves through singing and forming friendships. I built a level of trust giving them the emotional comfort they need. I love this job as it allows me to express my patience in all forms.
