My name is Sorcha, I am a final year English Literature student at University College Dublin. I'm Irish but I also speak fluent French. I am a highly dedicated, dependable and compassionate individual, with excellent written and spoken communication skills, as well as deep empathy and understanding for people of all backgrounds. These qualities make me a responsible and dependable candidate who can represent a positive influence in any child’s life. In my spare time, I love to cook and bake, read and write, and travel whenever I can. I have a variety of hands-on experience working with children and young people throughout my life. I have worked recently with a family collecting their two children from school, feeding them and helping them with their homework (and supervising home schooling when schools were closed). I have also completed work experience in a local primary school, and spent much of my free time during my own school years helping younger pupils with reading and French, or supervising baby ballet lessons. On family holidays in France, I helped organise daily activities for children aged 3-15 staying in the holiday complex, such as painting, crafts, sports and orienteering. I have also acted as a child-minder for my younger cousins since they were little. Before Covid I worked at the Disney Store in Dublin, where my training focused on providing the best possible experience to anyone that entered the store, no matter how young. My experience over the years has undeniably primed and strengthened my capacity to work in a child centered environment. I genuinely enjoy the company of children and young people of all ages and take great enjoyment in creating relaxed spaces for them to express themselves and grow as individuals ready to become active and compassionate members of society. I am willing to perform a range of tasks in order to achieve this, including preparing food, assisting homework, supervising play, and other household tasks if necessary. References on request.
